OpenAI states it will need to cease operating if people expect it to follow basic ethical guidelines.
@funnymonkey They should pull a boss move and shutter today. That'd show us!
@funnymonkey This is like when cops say they cannot do their jobs if they can’t do unfettered racism/brutality/violations of people’s rights. It’s very telling about what they think their purpose is.
@Capheind I'd welcome being taught that lesson!
@stefan @funnymonkey yeah, I'm sure that argument is going to fly in Europe.
You can't expect me to say where these huge piles of cash came from! I'd be arrested for dozens of crimes. Let's just agree that I did what I had to and leave it at that.
Now about that loan you needed...
@stefan @funnymonkey also
"Open AI co-founder Ilya Sutskever told The Verge that the company had been wrong to disclose so much in the past, and that keeping information like training methods and data sources secret was necessary to stop its work being copied by rivals."
Because you'd hate your proprietary work being copied by a 3rd party.
@stefan @funnymonkey Quote who?
@doug @stefan @funnymonkey that doesn’t sound very … “open” of them!
The theft of knowledge cannot be stopped in AIs, or removed from AIs, so remove theft by removing ownership of AIs. If AIs arent owned, it isnt theft, organize AIs as public goods, regulate them as utilities, end profiting from ownership, "release" them, regulate them.
I'm shocked (or whatever that's called, when you knew full well something is the case...)
@funnymonkey Do they promise?
